Diwali Bumper – A movie marathon…

Since last 2 years, the big questions comes to my mind is “what to do on Diwali holidays?”. My family and most of the friends are located in Mumbai and hence we have a very limited set of options to avoid all the noise & air pollution.

So this year, we decided to do a movie marathon and add our share to the Bollywood producers coffers for their Diwali Laxmi pujan.

Of course, with Siya (my daughter – 5+ years old) around, we have to pick our movies very carefully. With Diwali falling on a Friday, we had 2 brand new releases and we went for both of them, back-to-back. And here is a quick analysis of both.

Actions Replayy-

The only suggestion I have for these guys is not to replay anything ever, action or not. The movie stinks so bad that it would put a trash can to shame. It was a super bad effort to remake a brilliant movie like “Back to the future”.

Nothing is this movie justifies anything that was 70’s or 80’s, In fact a movie like “once upon a time in mumbai” has done a much much better job of portraying that time of history.

the music – absolutely has no flavor of the era

the costume – a good try, but who the hell used to wear halter tops that time?

And to top it all, Mr. Akshay Kumar, who is suppose to be 20 something in the movie shows of his silver white chest hair, what the heck is that?

I think its a waste of time to talk anymore about this movie. so let’s move onto the next one that saved our day…

Golmaal 3

These guys do it again with style. It’s very rare that a sequel or a movie with the same format and concept would do it again the 3rd time. It’s hilarious and funny to the point that we don’t remember not laughing through most of the movie. It is not a through and through intelligent comedy but even the slapstick stuff is performed with much elegant by the characters and the direction covers it all. Besides everybody else, Arshad Warsi has again done a brilliant job of a comedian, and Tushar Kapoor seems to fit the role perfectly as ever.

Johnny Lever adds to the over all fun with his bhullakkad personality, which he was previously very successful performing in Bazigar.

2 thumbs-up to Golmaal.

With that, looking forward to the Harry Potter release this month.
